This year’s Leaf Drop-Off Program will be at the WilliamSUN Solar Field on Pound Road for five Saturdays– October 24th, October 31st, November 7th, November 14th and November 21st from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.   Williamson residents can drop off bagged leaves and small yard waste only. Please bring a driver’s license to show residency.

Plastic bags must be emptied on site whereas paper leaf collection bags can be deposited. Please do not bring large branches or tree limbs.

You can separately drop off household trash every Saturday morning at the WilliamSUN Solar Field from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon. K & D Disposal conducts this drop-off service for only $.10 a pound.   There is no charge for recycling materials as long as you are dropping off garbage.   Otherwise, if recyclable materials only, it is $.10 a pound. You can drop off cardboard for free even if not dropping off household garbage.

Our first town-sponsored shredding event was on August 15th at the Williamson Town Complex. This event resulted in 2,000 pounds of paper collected for eventual recycling. All materials were shredded on site at the Town Complex. Two thousand pounds of paper collected translates to approximately 17 trees saved.

It is likely that the event next year will be held on Saturday during the 2016 Spring Cleanup at WilliamSUN Solar Field instead of the parking lot at the Town Complex.

The first step in the 2016 budget process was the presentation of the 2016 Tentative Budget at the September 8th Town Board meeting. On September 16th, the 2016 Tentative Budget was reviewed with changes made. This resulted in a Preliminary Town Budget with a proposed town tax rate of $3.28 per thousand for 2016.

The town tax rate for this year is $4.36. The reason for the significant decrease from $4.36 to $3.28 is that the library is no longer on the town budget. The $4.36 per thousand includes $1.09 for the library. Therefore, the 2016 tax rate of $3.28 essentially reflects elimination of the library from the town budget.

The library now has its own budget. It is listed as a separate line item on the school tax bill you received in September. Note that the library tax is a separate tax from school tax.

The 2016 Preliminary Town Budget will be made available to the public at the Town Clerk’s Office by Wednesday, October 16, 2015.

There will be a Public Hearing on the 2016 Preliminary Budget at the Town Board meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. According to the NYS Town Law, the 2016 Budget must be adopted by resolution by November 20th

Applications for the annual Diann Roffe citizenship award will be accepted in the Town Clerk’s Office until October 25th.
